What is pipe flushing and what it is used for

Flushing is the operation of pipe cleaning which consists of the elimination of contaminants or pollutants present in the interior, by the introduction of a hydraulic fluid. This is a mechanical procedure that allows remove any particles from the inner pipe walls and thus clean the surfaces of the contaminant.

To achieve this, flushing is carried out using a fluid, a special clean oil which is pumped into the pipes at a pressure that generates a turbulent motion under these conditions, the flux oil is able to remove solid contaminants and transport them out of the pipes, in the direction of the flow station, which filters and eliminates them permanently.

Pipe flushing: applications

You can make the flushing of rigid pipes and hoses by the use of specific equipment. The most advanced fluxing machines enable the cleaning of pipes of all lengths, diameters and connectionsby setting the desired cleaning settings in relation to the reference standards, thanks to the presence of an automatic particle counter. At the end of flushing, the pipes are then dried internally with a flow of compressed air and protected at the ends with dirt-repellent closures.

Pipe flushing, which has a short duration (on average, it takes about 15 minutes to mechanically clean a pipe), is particularly applicable for the pipe cleaning of hydraulic systems of medium to large size, of flexible pipes for off-shore applications and in multiple industrial contexts where a certification of internal pipe and/or system cleaning.
